CIMITA conducts second expo

Cholamandalam Information Technology Association (CIMITA), has successfully concluded their second computer expo at a private hall in Kumbakonam.

The event was conducted for four days and a huge foot print was registered during the event. Speaking to ‘The DQ Week', R Ramamoorthy, President of the association said, "This is the second year we conducted the expo and every year we get to learn something new. Compared to last year, which was our first effort of conducting an expo, this year we feel the association has done more team work and the bond within the team has grown stronger." "Last year, there were more free-flow entrants just for a window shopping. However, this year, even though the crowd may be lesser, crowd comes thinking of buying something", says Sujay Vijayan, CEO, Vijay computers, who is also a participant in the expo.

Abdul Malik, who was the president during the last tenure, was instrumental in bringing the concept of IT Exhibition in Kumbakonam. "The concept of expo has worked out well and the expo done during the last time had created an impact among the people and many potential customers across various villages in Kumbakonam had turned out", said Malik who further added that the following years will see more professional-way of expo.

B.Kuberan, President, Confed-ITA, was the chief guest of the event inaugurated by Dr.R.Palanivelu, District Governor, RI-Dist 2980. Other key personalities of Confed-ITA, K.Ravichandran, Secretary, and S.Ravikumar, Treasurer, and A.Muthuswamy, former president, Confed-ITA, participated in the inauguration ceremony. Marketing activities were started a month before and special gifts were given to the participants in the form of a lucky draw.

Facts and figures:

According to Umesh Kumar, Chairman of the expo, "The expo was conducted for four days and approximately 60 to 70 laptops were sold and 10-12 numbers in each desktops and all-in-one-pc were sold." He also said that HP, Dell, Sony and Acer were the top-performed brands and he has estimated an approximate sale of Rs.30 to 40 lakh throughout the expo.
