Members of the Cholamandalam Information Technology Association (CIMITA) were in a fix as they received a resignation SMS from their President, M Ramamoorthy. He has also submitted a letter regarding the same, to the association. Even though he has quoted health issues as the reason for stepping down, speculations are rife that there is more than meets the eye for Ramamoorthy's decision.

CIMITA treasurer Abdul Malik, who received the resignation letter, shared his views on the matter with The DQ Week, saying, "I have received his resignation in which he has quoted his health issues for stepping down as the president. We do not want him to resign. We want him to complete his tenure successfully. Since all our members are equipped with various works, we are waiting for a meeting to discuss on his resignation."

It is believed that Ramamoorthy had issues with the parent association Confed-ITA. According to a CIMITA member, "He raised an issue on the unsettled accounts. However, all the pending accounts including the bills were produced before the treasurer transparently during the last Confed-ITA EC meeting held at Theni."

Ramamoorthy's resignation has, no wonder, come as a surprise to all CIMITA members who have termed the move as "unexpected"."Ramamoorthy was very vocal and has made us know all the movements in Confed-ITA. His resignation is a shocking for us," said one of the members. The members have also demanded that the presidents and secretaries of district associations are informed on the transactions of every meeting.

Defending itself, Confed-ITA, however, claims that there is transparency in all its activities and meetings. "We have made every activity transparent. We have also decided that predecessors of the current office bearers and advisors of Confed-ITA will be informed on everything including the minutes of the meetings, through a group in yahoo," said K.Ravichandran, Secretary, Confed-ITA. He also informed that there is a recommendation in the pipeline which encourages the president and secretaries to be EC members.

Ravichandran further requested all the members to read the mails sent by the association, to avoid the confusion. "It is sad that many of our members do not even read the mails which are sent among the group. Good or bad, our members should start cultivating the habit of reading the mails," he said.
