Sony India launches CFexpress 4 Standard Type A memory cards

Sony India has introduced its latest range of CFexpress 4 Standard Type A memory cards, the CEA-G1920T (1920 GB) and CEA-G960T (960 GB), along with the MRW-G3 card reader, designed for professional creators, photographers and videographers. Built to deliver ultra-high-speed performance, the new cards achieve read speeds up to 1800 MB/s and write speeds up to 1700 MB/s, more than twice as fast as earlier models.

With these additions, Sony aims to strengthen its Cinema Line and Alpha mirrorless camera ecosystem, offering creators faster, more reliable storage solutions that streamline demanding production workflows.

Key features of Sony CFexpress Type A memory cards

The CEA-G1920T and CEA-G960T cards, compliant with the latest CFexpress 4 standard, combine speed, capacity and durability:

  • Large storage capacity: Available in 1920 GB and 960 GB, suitable for storing lengthy 4K or higher-resolution video and high-resolution image files.

  • High sustained write speed: Delivers a minimum sustained write speed of 400 MB/s, ensuring reliable, uninterrupted video capture.

  • Faster workflow: With read speeds up to 1800 MB/s and write speeds up to 1700 MB/s, large files can be transferred quickly to editing systems, reducing post-production delays.

  • Enhanced durability: The cards withstand over 150 newtons of bend force, ten times stronger than earlier models, and are built with a reinforced resin body, five times more impact-resistant, capable of surviving drops from up to 7.5 metres.

  • Compact and portable: The lightweight design supports compact camera bodies, offering portability for professionals working on the move.

Launched alongside the cards, the MRW-G3 card reader is optimised for CFexpress 4 Type A memory cards. Key highlights include:

  • High-speed transfers: Supports USB 40Gbps for rapid offloading of large media files such as high-resolution images and 4K+ video footage.

  • Multi-device compatibility: Works across PCs, smartphones and tablets, enabling creators to edit and transfer content seamlessly.
