Sennheiser Introduces HD 500 BAM

Sennheiser launches HD 500 BAM microphone

The Sennheiser HD 500 BAM boom arm microphone has been launched in India as an accessory designed to add voice communication capabilities to select audiophile headphones. Rather than introducing a standalone microphone, the new product extends the functionality of the HD 500 series, enabling users to combine high-quality audio playback with clear voice capture.

The launch addresses a long-standing gap for users who rely on audiophile headphones for gaming, virtual meetings, and content creation but require a dedicated microphone without switching to a conventional gaming headset.

Designed to enhance speech clarity

The Sennheiser HD 500 BAM boom arm microphone features a 10 mm electret condenser microphone with a cardioid pickup pattern. This configuration prioritises the user’s voice while reducing background noise, supporting consistent speech clarity across gaming sessions, video calls, livestreams, and recordings.

The design includes a flexible yet stable boom arm and durable cabling for daily use. To support hygiene and long-term reliability, the package includes three user-replaceable foam windscreens, with one pre-installed and two spares.

Seamless integration with HD 500 series headphones

The accessory connects directly to Sennheiser’s single-sided twist-lock connector, enabling quick installation without additional devices or complex setup. This first-party solution eliminates the need for third-party microphone accessories that users have traditionally relied on for voice communication.

Compatibility extends to multiple models within the HD 500 series, including the HD 560S, HD 599 SE, HD 505, HD 569, and HD 620S. This allows users to upgrade existing headphones into a combined listening and communication setup while retaining the sound characteristics they are familiar with.

Focus on gaming and communication use cases

HD 500 series headphones are widely used by gamers for their expansive soundstage and accurate positional audio. The Sennheiser HD 500 BAM boom arm microphone complements these attributes by providing lag-free voice transmission, creating a headset-style experience suitable for competitive gaming and online collaboration.

By combining high-quality audio output with reliable voice input, the setup is positioned as an alternative to dedicated gaming headsets, particularly for users who prioritise sound accuracy and comfort.

Simple controls and broad device support

Installation is designed to be quick through a secure twist-and-lock mechanism. An in-line remote integrated into the 1.5-metre cable provides access to volume control and microphone mute functions.

The microphone uses a 4-pole 3.5 mm CTIA connector, offering plug-and-play compatibility with PCs, Macs, gaming consoles, laptops, and mobile devices. A Y adapter is included for systems that require separate audio and microphone inputs.

Company perspective

Saahil Kumar, General Manager, Sonova Consumer Hearing, India, said the new accessory is intended to address the absence of a dedicated microphone for users who value the sound quality and comfort of the HD 500 series. He noted that the product enhances both audio input and output without altering the core listening experience.

Pricing and availability

The Sennheiser HD 500 BAM boom arm microphone will be available across India from 13 January 2026 at a price of Rs 4,990. It will be sold through Sennheiser Hearing’s official website, Amazon India, and select retail partners.

The accessory will also be offered as part of bundled options with compatible HD 500 series headphones, providing users with an integrated upgrade path for gaming and communication needs.
