Seagate debuts 30TB HDDs for AI-ready storage
Seagate Technology has introduced its latest high-capacity storage offerings in India—the 30TB Exos M and IronWolf Pro hard drives. Built on the company’s Mozaic 3+ platform and leveraging Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology, the new HDDs are designed to meet the evolving demands of AI-driven infrastructure and edge computing.
With over one million Mozaic drives already shipped globally, Seagate is responding to growing pressure on enterprises to process and store large volumes of data locally. As data sovereignty regulations expand and AI adoption accelerates, particularly in sectors like retail, manufacturing, and financial services, reliable on-premises storage is becoming critical.
The 30TB Exos M is engineered for hyperscale environments where performance, efficiency, and scalability are paramount. It supports disaggregated storage architectures that allow for flexible resource deployment across edge locations, enabling real-time analytics without centralised bottlenecks.
In parallel, the IronWolf Pro 30TB drive is aimed at NAS deployments that are increasingly handling AI workloads such as video analytics and image recognition. These drives offer robust storage for growing unstructured datasets while maintaining low latency and consistent performance.
According to Seagate, this development aligns with industry shifts as AI models require access to vast amounts of foundational data. IDC reports show a growing trend of deploying AI at the edge, while enterprises seek to improve data centre density and reduce energy consumption. The company also notes a broader move towards local AI processing in NAS systems from partners such as QNAP and UGREEN.
The 30TB Exos M is available in India at a suggested retail price of ₹74,999, while the IronWolf Pro 30TB is priced at ₹75,999 and can be ordered through authorised partners.
As AI transitions from cloud-centric to hybrid and edge models, high-capacity, high-integrity storage is becoming essential. Seagate’s new drives represent a step forward in enabling scalable, localised data infrastructure to meet future demands.
