Hikvision face terminals enable contactless access

Hikvision, a provider of security technology, has introduced its MinMoe Face Recognition Terminals to meet growing demand for contactless access control and biometric identity verification. These advanced terminals use AI-powered facial recognition to enable secure and efficient access management across various sectors including healthcare, government, transport, and manufacturing.

Driven by improvements in AI and edge computing, facial recognition technology is seeing rapid adoption, especially in areas where fingerprint-based solutions face limitations. In environments such as mining and heavy manufacturing, where dirt or damage can affect fingerprint recognition, facial recognition offers a reliable and hygienic alternative.

The MinMoe Face Terminals incorporate a range of modern features such as deep learning algorithms for fast and accurate identification, even in low-light conditions, and long-range face detection up to three metres. These systems also include face anti-spoofing capabilities to reduce proxy attendance and enhance overall security.

The terminals support multiple authentication methods—face, fingerprint, card, QR code, NFC, and Bluetooth—offering flexibility in access control configurations. Their connectivity options include TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, and USB, ensuring seamless integration into existing infrastructure.

Additional capabilities include two-way audio for visitor management, remote access via the Hik-Connect App, and compatibility with third-party readers and controllers. The terminals come in designs suited to different installation needs, including wall-mounted, tabletop, and turnstile setups.

Hikvision categorises its devices based on user scale:

  • Value Series for small businesses

  • Pro Series for mid-sized enterprises

  • Ultra Series for large organisations

Beyond physical access, these terminals are also being adopted for time and attendance monitoring, reducing manual processes and increasing workplace efficiency.

As organisations prioritise safety, convenience, and speed in access control, Hikvision’s biometric solutions aim to address evolving workplace and security challenges with advanced, contactless technology. The use of face recognition is particularly relevant in environments requiring high hygiene standards or robust identity management.

By combining functionality with flexibility, these face recognition terminals are helping to reshape access control systems in modern enterprise settings.
