Devialet Unveils Phantom Ultimate Speaker Range

Devialet has introduced the Phantom Ultimate range, marking the next evolution of its Phantom speaker lineage first launched in 2015. Developed after a decade of continued research and protected by extensive intellectual property, the new range builds on Devialet’s established high-fidelity platform while expanding performance, design, and user experience capabilities.

A Decade After Phantom: Evolution of a Reference

The original Devialet Phantom emerged following three years of research and development and was supported by 88 registered patents. It established a benchmark in high-fidelity audio. Ten years later, Devialet Phantom Ultimate is positioned as the successor to this platform, engineered to reveal finer musical detail and deliver high-resolution sound reproduction.

Developed in Paris by Devialet’s engineering and design teams, the Phantom Ultimate reflects the company’s established acoustic approach and design language. The speaker retains a distinctive silhouette while refining form and finish.

Audio Performance and Immersive Playback

Devialet Phantom Ultimate is designed to deliver immersive sound with increased precision, impact, and connectivity options. According to the company, the listening experience is intended to translate both live performances and studio recordings into a physical, room-filling presence.

Design Refinements and New Finishes

Phantom Ultimate refines the established Phantom design language with an elongated silhouette focused on visual continuity and precision. On the Phantom Ultimate 108 dB variant, the removal of the woofer core cover enhances surface continuity, requiring a reengineered central core and assembly process.

The tweeter grille has been redesigned following six months of research, balancing acoustic performance with refined visual detailing.

The range debuts in two new finishes:

• Deep Forest, featuring dark tones with black chrome detailing and subtle green reflections

• Light Pearl, inspired by bisque ceramics with an ultra-matte off-white finish

An Opéra de Paris edition is also offered, continuing the partnership with the Opéra national de Paris.

Manufacturing and Assembly Standards

Devialet Phantom Ultimate is conceived and assembled in advanced production facilities using components developed by specialised experts. Manufacturing includes work at La Manufacture Devialet, established in 2015, where speaker geometry and acoustic performance are developed through long-term research.

Assembly combines robotic precision with manual craftsmanship. A dedicated atelier within La Manufacture Devialet also manages product repair and care, ensuring restored performance consistency.

Proprietary Audio Technologies

The Phantom Ultimate range integrates Devialet’s proprietary technologies:

• ADH® New Gen (Analog Digital Hybrid) combines analog Class A linearity with digital Class D efficiency, extending high-frequency response up to 35 kHz on the 108 dB model

• SAM® (Speaker Active Matching) dynamically adjusts output to preserve phase and amplitude accuracy while protecting drivers

• HBI® (Heart Bass Implosion) enables ultra-low-frequency reproduction down to 14 Hz

• AVL™ (Adaptive Volume Level) dynamically adjusts volume based on content type

The platform also introduces a new NXP i.MX 8M Nano processor, delivering enhanced audio processing efficiency.

Software, Connectivity, and User Control

Phantom Ultimate operates on Devialet OS DOS3, introduced with the Devialet Astra integrated amplifier. The architecture is designed to support future Devialet products through a unified software environment.

Supported streaming protocols include AirPlay, Google Cast, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and UPnP.

The redesigned Devialet App offers multiple listening modes:

• Music Mode

• Podcast Mode

• Cinema Mode

Additional controls include a six-band equalizer, bass reducer, loudness adjustment, and software update management.

Phantom Ultimate 108 dB Specifications

The Phantom Ultimate 108 dB introduces four newly registered patents and delivers:

• Frequency response: 14 Hz to 35 kHz (+/- 6 dB)

• Amplification power: 1,100 W

• Audio processing: 32-bit / 96 kHz

It features redesigned bass, midrange, and tweeter drivers, four touch controls, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and multi-room support. Configurations include solo, stereo, or multi-room setups.

Phantom Ultimate 98 dB Specifications

The Phantom Ultimate 98 dB offers:

• Frequency response: 18 Hz to 25 kHz (+/- 6 dB)

• Amplification power: 400 W

• Audio processing: 32-bit / 96 kHz

It uses a co-spherical wideband driver design and supports the same configuration options and finishes as the 108 dB variant.

Opéra de Paris Editions

The Opéra de Paris editions feature hand-applied 22-carat gold leaf, crafted by Ateliers Gohard using traditional gilding techniques. The collaboration supports artistic creation at the Opéra national de Paris while extending Devialet’s design heritage.

Stereo Configuration and Soundstage

In stereo configuration, Devialet Phantom Ultimate is designed to deliver expanded soundstage depth and spatial precision. According to the company, the configuration enhances separation, vocal presence, and rhythmic accuracy.
