Ericsson emerges as leader in mobile infrastructure market 2014

Mobile Infrastructure market saw Ericsson as leader in 2G, 3G and 4G LTE mobile based on their global revenue in 2014. Huawei is the second-largest telecom vendor; Nokia Networks is in the third position, whereas the Chinese telecom gear maker ZTE is in the fourth position and Alcatel-Lucent is in the fifth position.

According to the Infonetics Research, 2G, 3G, 4G mobile infrastructure market will drop from nearly $47 bn in 2019 to $27 bn in 2014 as the planet reaches the end of macro cell mobile deployments.

The possible dip in telecom capex will be a big blow to telecom equipment vendors. Telecom capex has slowed over the last couple of years. Telecom operators are now focusing on enterprise markets of cloud services and M2M/IoT and their strategies as consumer market are now evolving toward B2B2C and partnership models.
