Trend Micro plans to tie up with more partners to increase the reach of its specialization in internet and server security.
"We have a global presence and we specialize in one particular area which is security. >From a customers' point of view, we believe that he is not looking just at security. A customer might be looking at security as a part of bigger solution wherein may be he is moving his servers, virtualizing them, moving them to data center, rolling out an advanced network or trying to change the IT infrastructure. All of these projects may have a security angle," said Mahendra Negi, CFO and COO, Trend Micro. "We are providing the essential component i.e. security. Our partners would have customer relations and customer insights. They would know the kind of risk customer faces, their requirements, the kind of security they require and their usability for that security. We provide the tools and solutions and channel partners provide the customer insights. We are looking forward to working with such partners and we have a view that market we are addressing will grow rapidly in the next 3 to 5 years. We look forward to help from our partners and together serving the customers with combined potential," he further added.
Speaking in the same context, Amit Nath, country manager, Trend Micro, even termed the year 2013 as the 'year of channels' for the company. "Year 2013 is a very crucial year for us as it is called the year of the channels for us. What want to invest a lot of our development efforts towards getting channels ready for the next wave of what we call as 3C's which is consumerization, cyber threats & cloud. We are interested in working with partners and increasing their profitability, reducing their cost of business and at the same time making sure they build a huge services business. We are focused around the 3C's. So year 2013 is a big investment year for channels in India for Trend Micro," said Nath.
