Nothing Phone 3 debuts with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and smarter Glyph Matrix

Nothing has officially launched the Phone 3, marking a significant evolution in its smartphone lineup. The new device brings performance improvements and design refinement without entering flagship pricing territory, starting at Rs. 39,999 ($499).

At the heart of the Phone 3 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a chip designed to bridge performance and efficiency for premium mid-range smartphones. Backed by up to 16GB RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and a 5,150 mAh battery, the Phone 3 promises fluid multitasking and longer screen-on time. It supports 45W wired and 15W wireless charging, keeping power management on par with devices at higher price points.

The device also introduces an upgraded Glyph Matrix Interface—Nothing’s signature LED system—now with dot-based animations and support for third-party app integration. Users can assign Glyph patterns to app notifications, ringtones, and functions beyond incoming calls, making the light-based interface more than a design gimmick.

Visually, the Phone 3 features a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, ensuring both smooth visuals and power efficiency. On the camera front, Nothing continues its dual-lens approach, offering two 50 MP sensors on the rear and a 16 MP front camera. While the setup may appear modest on paper, past iterations suggest a focus on clean image processing over gimmicky multi-sensor stacking.

Running on Nothing OS 3.0, based on Android 14, the Phone 3 maintains the brand’s minimal and clean UI approach. The global release is set for July 15, with pre-orders already open across major markets.

With this release, Nothing appears to be pivoting slightly—from aesthetics-first branding to a more balanced offering where form meets function. The Phone 3 builds on visual distinctiveness while pushing further into everyday usability.
