Sony raises the bar with BRAVIA Theatre 6 launch in India

Sony India has announced two new soundbars—BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6 and BRAVIA Theatre System 6—set to hit stores across the country this July. The latest additions to the BRAVIA Theatre portfolio are designed to bring cinematic audio experiences into Indian homes with features like Dolby Atmos, wireless subwoofers, and tight integration with BRAVIA TVs.

The BRAVIA Theatre System 6 is a 5.1-channel setup rated at 1000W, including a subwoofer and wireless rear speakers. For those looking for a more compact solution, the Bar 6 offers a 3.1.2-channel configuration with a wireless subwoofer and two upfiring speakers for simulated overhead sound.

Built for India, tuned for impact

What sets these products apart is Sony’s focus on local preferences. According to Tomoya Kato, Senior Acoustic Engineer at Sony, the audio systems are tuned to match Indian tastes, offering deep bass and crystal-clear vocals. “Whether it’s a soulful song or an action-packed movie, the sound adapts to the moment,” said Kato.

Both devices also support technologies like the Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround, which simulate multi-dimensional sound without the need for additional ceiling or rear speakers.

Beyond sound, the new lineup offers intelligent features such as Voice Zoom 3, which uses AI to amplify dialogue, and a BRAVIA Connect app that allows users to manage settings via smartphone. For night-time viewing, a dedicated Night Mode softens loud effects while boosting speech.

Sony is also banking on sustainability and accessibility. The packaging includes tactile markers for the visually impaired and QR codes that support screen readers. Over 75% of the packaging material is recycled, and fabrics used are repurposed from PET bottles.

The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6 will be available for Rs 39,990 starting July 1, 2025, while the more powerful BRAVIA Theatre System 6 is priced at Rs 49,990 and will hit shelves on July 3, 2025. Both models will be sold through Sony Centres, major electronics retailers, and online platforms.

With this launch, Sony continues to bet on the premium home audio segment in India, aiming to deliver cinematic sound without requiring users to leave their living rooms.
