India’s first Dolby Cinema debuts at city pride

Movie‑goers can expect enhanced audio‑visual experiences, including deeply detailed visuals and lifelike soundscapes, beginning with Jurassic World Rebirth on 4 July. The auditorium features curved, wall‑to‑wall‑to‑ceiling screens, dynamic lighting, and premium seating with unobstructed sight lines—carefully crafted to eliminate distractions and elevate viewer engagement.

Michael Archer, Dolby’s Vice President of Worldwide Cinema Sales, highlighted the significance: “With over 1,000 Dolby Atmos screens in India, Dolby Cinema now raises the bar for premium cinema in the country.” Archer added that the experience has been 'thoughtfully designed to the last detail' and that additional Dolby Cinema venues are in development.

City Pride’s partner, Pushkaraj Chaphalkar, reflected on the theatre’s evolution from a single screen in 1939 to a 40-strong chain. He noted Pune’s affinity for premium entertainment and shared plans to expand Dolby Cinema across six more Indian cities, including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Trichy, Kochi, and Ulikkal.

Dolby Cinema fosters deeper emotional engagement through its superior visual fidelity—enhanced contrast, vibrant colour and depth in Dolby Vision—and a multidimensional audio environment provided by Dolby Atmos. With more than 740 feature films released globally in these formats, Dolby’s content pipeline continues to improve.

City Pride, Kharadi’s Dolby Cinema opens to audiences on 4 July 2025, with tickets available via BookMyShow. The debut is complemented by exclusive previews and launch offers. This initiative marks the beginning of a national rollout, poised to redefine the standards of movie‑going pleasure across India.
