NECTA donates Rs 1,11,000 to Assam flood victims

The association, in this initiative also received goodwill support and appreciation from other associations in the East

Stepping in to aid the victims of the recent floods in Assam, which swept away 26 districts of the state, North East Computer Traders Association (NECTA) recently contributed Rs 11,1000 to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund reinstating its claims to its social objectives.

NECTA initiated the fund raising campaign in mid-July and in a very short period raised the whopping amount with donors not just limited to Assam and north-east India, but inclusive of North Bengal and partners from Kolkata. Total donors exceeded 60.

Besides, the association was also keen to propagate its noble cause using the social media.

On its Facebook page, Vikash Agarwal, VP, NECTA posted, "An appeal to all members of the North East IT Fraternity to come forward and contribute to the cause. Total collections received will be donated to the Chief Minister's Refief Fund. Please donate today."

Babu Lal Navalakha, joint secretary, NECTA was appointed as the project leader and also, the association kept on updating the contributor list on the social media page.

Commenting on the ongoing move of the fund-raiser, Agarwal said, "We are overwhelmed by the response from the partners. We received contributions from more than 50 people in a single day."

Also, Ranjan Das, general secretary, NECTA posted on Facebook, "I appreciate each member who stepped in at this crisis time."

The association, in this initiative also received goodwill support and appreciation from other associations in the East.
