Extending its support to protest against Local Body Tax (LBT), ISODA has joined the strike, called by other industry associations regarding the same, in Maharashtra.

The bandh call has been given by the Federation of Association of Maharashtra (FAM), the body representing 750 trade associations in the state. They say LBT will not only burden traders with additional tax, but also increase the paper work since they will have to register themselves with the civic body, acquire the license and file returns

LBT, which replaced octroi in the various municipalities in the state, is an account-based cess collection for every raw material used or imported into the city limits by all businesses, traders, and manufacturers

To support the on-going protests, ISODA has even asked all its Maharashtra members to stop all order processing and deliveries (both purchase and sale). As a mark of solidarity, all ISODA members of Maharashtra will also observe 'No Purchase Day' on May 10, 2013.
