Intex appoints KS Soft India for its anti-virus software

The company will be leveraging on KS Soft's existing channel base of 400 distributors and 20,000 resellers

Intex Technologies has re-entered into software security space recently with the launch of Intex COP BASIC, an anti-virus software. The company has appointed Delhi based partner KS Soft India, to distribute the software across the nation. While keeping a low profile in the security software fray, the company intends to roll out its aggressive plans for its software business, once it introduces the other four SKUs in the month of December and January.

Speaking exclusive to The DQ Week, Vikram Kalia, GM, product (PC and peripherals), Intex said, "Last year, we launched a security software vertical, however, there were some issues in the overall product planning, so we discontinued. Therefore, we are re-launching it in a different avatar, with a pan-India availability. We are taking a phased manner approach to launch our other line of security software. Presently we are waiting for customers' acceptance to our latest version of anti-virus software with the latest cloud scanning technology. We will be shortly introducing two more SKUs of internet security with enhanced features in December and total security solution in January."

Speaking on the GTM Kushal Patel, product head, security software vertical, Intex said, "KS Soft India will be distributing our Intex COP BASIC across India, later for our other forthcoming security software, we will be leveraging our existing channel base of 400 distributors and 20,000 resellers."

KS Soft India is basically known for software trading of genuine internet securities and anti-virus. It also deals in Microsoft, Quick Heal and Symantec products and almost all the other brand of security and firewall-related software.

Without divulging the software R&D, Kalia said, "We have signed a non-disclosure agreement with the OEM, who is developing and packaging the software on the company's behalf. Our new business will be supporting our current bottom line, with 5% revenue contribution and would also enhance our retail visibility. Broadly, we want to position our self amongst the serious players in the security software business, with our strong and largest channel network and vast reach in India."

Besides, IT channel and retail channel, it will also take to online channel. "Times to come, we will be available on online portals. We are brain storming on taking different channels, consumer schemes and marketing activities. In next 6 months, we will emerge as the fastest anti-virus player and are looking for 5% marketshare by March 2013," said Kalia.

On the whole for Intex, IT peripherals will be the key business followed by telecom and consumer electronics. In the IT business, the company has done away with its notebook and desktop business. This year, the IT peripherals business will register Rs 500 crore revenue for the company.
