Bitdefender appoints Venktron as national distributor

Romania-based antivirus provider, Bitdefender has revamped its distribution model. The company has decided to move away from its regional model to a national distribution model, with the appointment of Mumbai based Venktron Digital Systems as its exclusive national distributor for its home and business range of software solutions. The company has further strengthened its focus on the Indian market and has appointed Arghya Sanyal, the first channel director for India and South Asia market. Sanyal will be based out of Kolkata.

Speaking to The DQ Week, Pablo Puig, sales director, Bitdefender, on his maiden visit to India said, "Bitdefender has maintained its numero uno position globally, but now we are looking aggressively at the Indian market and intend to solidify our brand image and position as a leading AV brand in India by end of this year. Moreover, with the change in distribution, we have dropped some regional distributors and are continuing with existing regional distributors."

Bitdefender has been present in India since 2008 through its regional distributors. The company earlier had an alliance with distributors such as Unistal, RS Computers and Sea Infotech.

According to Amarjeet Singh, national sales manager for Bitdefneder at Venktron, "With Bitdefender we have added the first software vendor in our distribution fold. In the first phase of expansion, we are working towards enhancing brand visibility to end users and channel partners, followed by breadth billing with our channel partners participating at IT exhibitions. Additionally, we are also pushing the sales through online sites; currently, we are available on five such leading portals."

The vendor is also on a hiring spree; it will have regional managers and its own office soon.
