The new printer driver that uses Zebra thermal label printers can be driven

with unmatched speed and ease

Zebra Technologies has announced that its barcode label printers are now

plug-and-play compatible with SAP's business optimiza-tion solutions. The

companies have signed an agreement, under which SAP has embe-dded Zebra's

bar-code render-ing libraries into its SAP Smart-Forms graphical forms and the

report design tool in the mySAP business suite family of solutions.

According to the press release, with no need for middleware or integration

programming, the capability reduces implementation times and cuts thousands of

pounds from the cost of printer rollout. Zebra and SAP Software Par-tner Program

have worked on bar-code integration for the last two years. The new

deve-lopments create an easy way for users to generate bar codes on demand for

asset tracking, compliance labeling and docu-ment tracking. At the same time,

the new printer driver, which uses Zebra program-ming language (ZPL), means

Zebra thermal label printers can now be driven with unmatched speed and ease of

integration.

Ken Moir, Application Assis-tance Group Manager at Zebra Technologies said,

"As a result of this integration, SAP solu-tions will now be plug-and-play

compatible with Zebra bar-code label printers. This will give SAP superior

customer responsiveness and ROI to its new and installed customer base. The

benefits will save end users money, and, as a con-sequence, make it easier for

resellers to sell the solutions."
