Aptech Ltd recently crossed its two-millionth student mark after 16 years of
operation. These include students of its 2,245 centers in 42 countries. In a
series of initiatives to celebrate its feat, Aptech Computer Education–South
Extension, organized a two days exhibition titled 'Horizon 2001'. It showcased
the software projects developed by the budding IT wizards of the center.
Speaking at the inauguration of the exhibition Ravi Khanna, Senior VP and
Zonal Head (North), Aptech Computer Education, said, "Aptech provides
computer education training of international standards to students and working
professionals worldwide, which helps the students to keep a pace with the fast
changing trends of the IT industry. Again with companies evolving new business
strategies regularly, it is imperative that the students have hands on
experience by working on such projects to have an edge in competitive corporate
world."
Software projects form an integral part of the eACCP program offered by
Aptech. It is mandatory for all students to create these projects at the end of
every semester. A total of 24 projects made by a group of 45 students were on
display in the exhibition.
These projects included two Web portals viz delhidarshan.com and
mediportal.com. Delhidardshan.com is an information site about education
institutes, historical places and shopping centers in Delhi. Mediportal.com is,
as the name suggests, a medical portal, which gives information about various
diseases. Facilities like online chat and FAQ's are available on these. Both the
websites were developed using ASP and SQL Server platforms.
Technologies like Visual Basic, MS Access, Oracle, Java and XML have been
used to develop projects like the Aptech Registration System to register details
of all walk ins in the center, hospital management system for AIIMs, Java Chat
and File Splitter. The students also used their creativity to develop several
gaming packages.
Students of all semesters participated in the exhibition. This was a platform
for all the students to give a practical face to the IT technologies and
knowledge imparted to them.
The exhibition was open to all walk in inquiries, students willing to gain IT
knowledge, current students of the center and their parents. The exhibition
displayed the skills of the students, which were highly appreciated by all invitees.
