As different hand-held device vendors continue to target the vibrant Indian
market, Banga-lore based Xse-rve India is all set to introduce po-cket PC in the
Indian market very soon.

"Today, as mo-bile and wireless technology ent-ers the enter-prise
market, de-vices are beco-ming more pow-erful, faster, sma-ller, more effi-cient
and less expensive, creating more value for the users. We feel that this is the
right time for us to introduce our pocket PC in the Indian market and we would
be doing it shortly," informed Rahul Gupta, MD, Xserve India Pvt Ltd.

With the Internet age, the corporate environment is evolving from
concentrated industrial workshops and location-focused corporate offices to less
structured, virtual office environments covering wider geographical areas. This
has created a need for technology that can support a mobile and virtual
workforce. The company would be targeting the corporate users for its Pocket PC
and is likely to price the product at around Rs 35,000 to Rs 37,000 for the
Indian market.

"We are already selling this product in the Chinese market and is doing
pretty well over there. We sincerely feel that corporates are in need for this
kind of product and applica-tions like sales force automa-tion will drive the
market penetration for this," he added.

One of the hottest areas of mobile and wire-less technology is foc-used
around the subject of convergence–particularly aro-und exploring the
feasibility of com-bining the wire-less phone and the PDA, the two most used
devices in the mobile market. With the re-cent launch of pocket PC by Capi-tel
Wireless, the Indian market is just opening up for this segment.

Headquartered in India, Xserve India was established in 2002 as the service,
marketing and sales enterprise for all divisions of Taiwan based Wis-tron group.
Wistron was for-merly known as Design and Manufacturing Services (DMS) Division
of Acer Group in Taiwan. (CyberMedia News)
