CAT launches three new devices S41, S31 smartphones and T20 Tablet

Caterpillar Inc. and popularly known as CAT, has ehanced its portfolio of rugged smartphones this year at IFA 2017. The organization has also introduced a rugged tablets at the trade show. The handset dubbed CAT S41 and CAT S31 is priced at EUR 499 and EUR 329 respectively. The tablet, Caterpillar T20 Tablet comes at EUR 649. CAT S41 is already up for orders from company's own website while the CAT S31 will be available to buy later this year. The firm has not yet revealed the availability details of its Caterpillar T20 Tablet.

The CAT S41's highlight is its 5000mAh battery that is claimed to run for up to 44 days on standby time and for up to 38 hours on 3G talk time. Also, the smartphone acts as a power bank for other handsets. As anticipated, the handset is dust and water resistant with IP68 rating. The device can resist water for an hour at 2 meters depth. Also, it can withstand falls from a height of 1.6 meters, 80% of the times on a device.

Running Android Nougat out of the box, the CAT S41 sports a 5-inch full HD (1080x1920 pixels) display, which can detect touch even when the fingers are wet or if it is being used with gloves. Under-the-hood it packs an octa-core MediaTek processor, clubbed with 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. The device also supports microSD card (up to 2TB).

CAT S41 supports 13MP rear camera with LED flash along with an 8MP front-facing camera. It also comes with Cat 6. LTE, VoLTE and VoWiFi capabilities. There is a programmable Shortcut Key as well for Push to Talk (PTT), SOS (Lone worker app), or for launching the torch or camera.

The smartphone, CAT S31, comes with 4000mAh battery and has a large 4.7-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This also comes with IP68 rating and can support drops from up to 1.8 metres. The Android Nougat-based device is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, clubbed with 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage. The device also supports microSD card.

Sporting an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera, CAT S31 also comes with a programmable button, which can be customised to launch certain functionalities. It is also compatible with dual SIM cards (Nano).

The Caterpillar T20 Tablet has an 8-inch HD (800x1280 pixels) IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass protecting, preventing it from minor scratches. The Windows 10-based tablet rocks a quad-core Intel Atom Z8350, clubbed with 2GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. The rugged tablet supports 4G LTE Cat. 4, USB 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v4.1 along with a Mini-HDMI or video out port.

As for the camera, the Caterpillar T20 Tablet comes with a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The device is backed by a massive 7500mAh battery.
