X-drive to launch hi-end portable storage soln

Chennai-based X-drive Technologies, the latest entrant in the channel business, is launching TrekStor, a high capacity portable storage device. "Initially, we will be launching 6GB portable storage device in TrekStor and it is priced at Rs 16,990. TrekStor will be available in three capacities such as 4GB, 6GB and 10GB," said Sharad Jalan, Managing Director, X-drive Technologies. The company had earlier launched Trek ThumbDrive Secure, claimed to be the world's smallest hard disk drive with security password protection.

Bangalore-based Sparrow Electronics is the exclusive national distributor for Singapore-based Trek Technology products in India. "We are the exclusive regional distributor for Sparrow Electronics in Tamil Nadu," said
Jalan.

TrekStor is an ideal back-up solution for desktops and notebooks with data retention of up to five years. The easily upgradable external hard disk drive is compatible with Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Mac OS9 and above. "The lightweight (approx. 100 gm) high-security portable device is all set to revolutionize the market with its innovative technology and it's an USB device with plug-n-play feature," said
Jalan.

The company is planning to establish a channel network with 10 premium business partners in Tamil Nadu, in the next two months. "We would appoint two business partners each in Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore who would take care of distribution activities in their respective regions, while four players will be in Chennai market," he said.

X-drive Technologies is also planning to introduce security system products in the market and is currently negotiating with few vendors in this regard. "We always wish to introduce innovative products in the market and our focus would be in IT and telecom solutions," added
Jalan.

The company is working towards achieving a turnover of Rs 10 lakh in its first year of operations.
