Wipro Technologies recently inaugurated its retail learning
center in Bangalore. President of Portugal, Prof Anibal Antonio Cavaco Silva
inaugurated the center as a part of his official visit to the company.
The retail learning center is a key enabler in strengthening
Wipro's Oracle retail competencies globally. The company also announced the
setting-up of its retail centre of excellence (CoE) in Portugal.
Sudip Banerjee, President, Enterprise Solutions Division, Wipro
Technologies, said, "With our acquisition of Enabler, Portugal has become a
key hub for our global retail business. Wipro's retail CoE in Portugal will
cater to the need of global retailers and will work on developing solutions and
deployment skills that can help improve their business performance."
According to a Wipro statement, the Wipro retail CoE will add
significant value to the industry with professionals focused on helping
retailers achieve competitive advantage through technology. The center will have
expertise in retail disciplines including merchandising, planning, optimization,
analytics, store operations, RFID, supply chain and enterprise application
integration.
Wipro will also set-up three development centers for Oracle
Retail: one in Portugal to address the European market, one in Brazil to address
the Latin American market and also support the US as a near shore center and one
in India to address all APAC markets and also to work as an offshore
delivery hub.
