Paranjpe and Suresh Vaswani, the current joint CEOs of India's #
two IT company Wipro are stepping down on February 1. Paranjpe and
Vaswani have been associated with the company over the last two
decades and have been an integral part of the leadership team. Their
exits have therefore attracted lot of attention from the industry.

the twin exits mark the end of Indian IT's first experiment with
their joint CEO strategy. "The joint chief executive structure
was one of the key factors that successfully helped us navigate the
worst economic crisis of our times," said Wipro chairman Azim
Premji. He however reiterated, "There is a change in
environment, there is a need for a simpler organisation structure.”

Kurien is taking over as the CEO of its global IT business and
Executive Director of the company. Kurien is currently Chief
Executive of the company's eco-energy division, a new initiative
launched early this fiscal. “Kurien's track record with customers,
passion for excellence, coupled with strategic thinking and rigor in
execution make him uniquely positioned to lead Wipro through the next
phase of growth," added Premji.
