Windows Server 2003 launch slated for April

Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd has reviewed Windows Server 2003, the next version of its server offering to its Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and Distribution partners in India. 

The company also announced that the product would be launched in India in April. Coinciding with this announcement, at a partner event held in Bangalore, Intel reiterated support for Windows Server 2003, which has been fully optimized to run on Intel Xeon and Intel Itanium 2 processors. The two companies have worked together to ensure applications and server readiness by time of launch. 

In addition, Microsoft announced a Corporate Training Program for Windows Server 2003 with partners like NIIT with whom it will train 5,000 IT professionals on Windows Server 2003.

Windows Server 2003 is the next version of the Microsoft Windows Server offering. The product would be made available in four flavors: Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition and the Windows Server 2003 Web Edition. 

The product provides several enhancements to address the needs of the business decision maker, IT professional and developer audience. It includes new and improved features that increase developer productivity, provides a connected enterprise architecture and offers increased returns on investment in IT, along with enhancement in core areas such as reliability, security and scalability.

Microsoft also announced the availability of 'Introducing Microsoft Windows Server 2003', a resource from MS Press for IT professionals to help them test, deploy and manage the product upon availability.
