WD customizes channel program

Select WD, the online channel oriented program of hard disk manufacturer
Western Digital, will appear in an all-new avtaar by the end of next quarter. In
its new avtaar the program has been customized keeping in mind the needs of the
Indian channel partner segment. According to the company this especially
tailored Select WD program will act as a better communication tool between the
company and its reseller and system integration partners.

Under Select WD program, which was introduced in India in February last year,
tier-two partners and system integrators, can get registered to become members
of Western Digital. And on getting registered with Select WD program partners
receive benefits like obtaining collateral materials, product literature and
banners, product training and marketing support.

Providing more insight into the program and other forthcoming initiatives
Sharad Srivastava, Director-Sales, India and South Asia said, “The Select WD
program has remained quite useful ever since it was introduced for partners in
India. Now seeing the specific requirements and other market dynamics that are
mostly prevalent in India we will reintroduce the program incorporating
requisite changes within the next quarter.”

Talking about the consumer he said, “On the end customers front we will try
and emphasize largely on warranty issues. The door to door warranty replacement
program rolled out last month will prove to be a milestone in this direction.”

However, Srivastava asserted that designing and execution of support
infrastructure for Western Digital was a laborious process that he did from
scratch since the company lacked focused approach during the initial years of
its operations.
