Visakhapatnam, better
known as Vizag, is a port city on the East coast of India. The second
largest city in the state of Andhra Pradesh, Vizag is often referred
to as 'the jewel of the East coast' or 'the city of destiny'.
This beautiful city is said to have derived its name from the deity
'Visakha' (the God of Valor). Vizag boasts of beautiful beaches,
mighty hillocks, smooth roads and stunning landscapes. The
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is a thing of pride for Vizag. Major
industries from all sectors including Bharat Heavy Plates &
Vessels, Hindustan Zinc Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corp, Port
Trust, Hindustan Ship Yard, etc are present in the city.

From being a tiny fishing
village in the 19th century, Vizag has grown into an industrial hub.
There are a number of medium and small-scale industries operating in
the city at present. The IT sector in the city is also generating a
decent amount of revenue every year. Sixty percent of the IT business
in Vizag caters to the education sector, government and SOHO segment.
These segments provide the only scope of business for the channel
fraternity in the region.

Some branded IT products
are hot favorites of customers in the city and are enjoying much
attention. “In the laptop category, Acer, Lenovo and Dell are the
master players; while Intel is the lead player in desktops,” said G
Manohar Reddy, CEO, General Computers. Although no remarkable trend
is visible in the Vizag market, it has been churning a decent amount
of revenue for its dealers. KV Suresh of Kolla Innovative Infotech
said, “The market has been performing moderately since the past few
months. But no new trend is visible in the market.”

Talking about the
vendor-dealer relationship, Reddy said that he doesn't face any problem
while dealing
with his vendors. Echoing the same, Suresh said,
My
dealing is smooth
with my vendors. And I do not face any major issue while dealing with
them.”
Commenting on the future prospect of the Vizag market, both Reddy and
Suresh opined
that the market is bound to improve in the coming days, and a good
growth
can be expected out of the steel city.
