Virtusa to recruit 500 SW professionals in Chennai

US services company Virtusa Inc, which opened its advanced technology center

(ATC) in Chennai a couple of months back, is into expanding its operations in

Chennai, which includes both infrastructure and manpower expansion.

With an investment of $ 10 million to $ 12 million for the coming 12 months,

Virtusa will build an additional 1,20,000 lakh square feet of space, which will

have a total seating capacity for more than 1500 software development

professionals.

Currently, Virtusa, which has manpower of 1,900 people worldwide (Sri Lanka,

Hyder-abad, Chennai), will recruit 500 more software professionals in the next

12 months. By the end of year, Virtusa hopes to incre-ase its head count to

about 2,800. According to Kris Cane-keratne, chairman and CEO, Virtusa "Our

company has enjoyed unparalleled growth, 74 percent sequential year over year

growth for the fiscal year that end-ed March 31. It is because we are focused on

building product class solutions where as most companies do generic IT

services."
