Vintron recently announced the launch of their new range of Karyo Slimline PCs for the Indian market. The range will feature a slim PC cabinet, which can be placed either vertically or horizontally depending on the space availability.

"Since Karyo is a hybrid of our Elixir and Biz123 range, we will target it at both the home and the business user," says Manish Agrawal, Director (marketing), Vintron Informatics Ltd.

The Karyo will be available in two variants-Karyo 1000 powered by an Intel Celeron 700 MHz processor, priced at Rs 33,750 and Karyo 3000, powered by an Intel Pentium III 733 MHz processor, priced at Rs 37,250, plus local taxes as applicable.

The pricing of Karyo, however, places the product above the home and the business offering from Vintron. "We expect to see 15 to 20 percent of our PC sales to come from Karyo in the first year," said
Agrawal.

The launch of the new product will not dilute the focus of Vintron in the component market. With the production of motherboards revamped, Vintron is now churning out nearly 40, 000 motherboards a month. "Nearly 50 percent of our turnover comes from components which include motherboards, internal modems, monitors, keyboards, mice and speakers," says Agrawal. "We need to justify the investments that we have made in the expansion," he adds, reiterating that focus will be more on components.
