Technologies, one of the leading
innovator of power efficient x86 processor platforms, and Simmtronics
Semiconductors announced the successful conclusion of their first
round of channel roadshows held in major cities in the North, East,
and West of India to promote the launch of their comprehensive range
of green computing products based on power-efficient VIA pc-1
platforms.
Representatives from hundreds of
leading system integrators, distributors, and resellers attended the
events, which were conducted in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Lucknow,
Ranchi, Bhubaneswer, Guwahati, Raipur, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and
Pune, and showed an overwhelming interest in working with VIA and
Simmtronics to drive the emergence of an exciting new segment in the
market for affordable, energy-saving PCs. Of particular interest was
the ground-breaking new SIMM PC, a low-power and full-featured system
that is priced below Rs 10,000 and has been specially designed to
meet particular need of consumers, businesses, and government and
education institutions in the county's smaller cities and rural
markets.
Other highlights included the unveiling
of the forthcoming VIA VX900E green motherboard, aimed at meeting the
growing demand for solutions, that support DDR3 SDRAM, as well as,
demonstrations of a wide selection of energy-efficient green
motherboards, featuring a choice of VIA C7 and VIA Nano processors,
such as the entry-level PC2000E+ green motherboard and the mainstream
PC3000E+ and PC3500N green platforms. "We are delighted by the
tremendous response we have received, to the launch of our full range
of VIA-enabled Green PC systems and mainboards,” commented Indrajit
Sabharwal, MD, Simmtronics Semiconductors. He added, “By
co-operating closely together with VIA and our channel partners, I

and Internet usage among the hundreds of millions of people who live
in India's towns and villages.”

channel at the roadshows has further underlined the huge potential
that exists in India for innovation, using our energy-efficient VIA
pc-1 platforms,” commented Richard Brown, VP-International
Marketing, VIA Technologies. “One of the most encouraging results
of the roadshows is that all the regional distributors appointed by
Simmtronics, placed orders for VIA pc-1 mainboards at the events,”
added Amod Phadke, Director-Sales, India, SAARC, Middle East, and
Africa. “Such strong channel support shows how quickly the momentum
is growing for us in India,” he added.
The channel roadshows were being held
as part of an exclusive agreement recently signed between VIA and
Simmtronics, under which Simmtronics is assembling VIA pc-1
mainboards in its advanced manufacturing facility in Roorkee. In
addition to India, Simmtronics will also distribute the products
through its channel partners in a total of 15 other countries,
including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Dubai, UAE, Turkey, Iraq,
Algeria, and Ghana. Further channel events are planned in February
2011.
