Tension prevails in Salem among the channel partners following the death of former DMK minister Veerapandi S Arumugam.
Veerapandi S Arumugam, one of the DMK heavyweight and a son of soil hailing from Salem passed away few minutes before. ‘Veerapandiar', as fondly called has been a longtime MLA in various constituencies in Salem. Minutes after his death news, tension prevails in and around the city. Channel partners in and the outskirts of the city are in a situation of closing their shops anytime.
Speaking to ‘The DQ Week', S.Prakash, former president of Confed-ITA, said, "We are yet to decide whether to close our office or keep it opened as our employees called and informed the news and also some violent incidents happened near the new-bus stand area". He also added that considering the situation the partners may decide whether to open or close the shops.
