Nagpur-based Vidharbha Computer and Media Dealer's Welfare Association (VCMDWA) recently got a boost for its Rural Computer Literacy Mission (RCLM) when it received eight PC nodes from State Bank of Travancore (SBT), Central Avenue, Gandhiputla Branch.

VCMDWA started its RCLM last year, with Systems Diagonistic -- a computer dealer -- donating two PCs for the development of computer literacy in Mahadwadi and Ukni villages.

Since then, the association has been trying to procure old PCs via donations. However, till recently, there was no progress with respect to donations coming in for this cause.

"The recent donation of eight nodes from SBT is definitely a positive sign for the growth of this program," said Sanjay Sinha, President, VCMDWA. The nodes does not have hard disks in it, but have LAN cards with boot RAMs on it, which means it can be used only on a networked environment with a server attached to the LAN. Hence, the association has sought members to donate old working hard disks to make these machines work independently.

With this development, the association has adopted Pendhari village in Sindewahi taluka of Chandrapur district to educate the masses there. Those interested in the RCLM can contact VCMDWA's Nagpur office via e-mail at:
