VCMDWA hosted ' Swaranadwan', a unique musical orchestra

(Vidarbha Computer
and Media Dealers' Welfare Association) Nagpur is a trade
association registered since 1998 under the Public Trust Act with the
Maharashtra Government and is a premier IT association of Central
India for the last 18 years. VCMDWA undertakes a lot of social and
cultural activities for the interest of society and its members. As
its CSR initiative VCMDWA had hosted a unique musical orchestra
'Swaranadwan' on October 4, 2010.

'Swaranandwan' is a part
of MSS - Maharogi Sewa Samiti ('Leprosy Service Society') one of
India's oldest and best known aid organizations located at Anandwan,
Warora, Chandrapur; run by family of legendary social worker Baba
Amte. This is a 150-member band consisting of blind and deaf
children, leprosy survivors, and other in the community. A variety of
vocational training activities are undertaken by the institution, to
make them capable of self-earning and give them a respectable
livelihood. The main aim of MSS behind running this orchestra is not
only to enable its artistes to stand on their own feet, but also to
serve its social commitment towards the welfare of others.

Amongst the dignitaries,
Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari, Praveen Darade, District
Collector Nagpur, Vikas Amte (Son of Baba Amte and Bharti Amte), and
wife of Vikas Amte were present to witness this spectacular show. The
multitalented and versatile performers of Swaranandwan had performed
a range of items from tribal and folk dances and songs to popular
Hindi and Marathi film songs to classical songs and once more have
proved themselves of being great stage artists.

Reeta Budhay, Secretary,
VCMDWA shared, “These people are very talented and do not need
charity. All they need is support and an audience to appreciate their
talents. That is why we brought them to the city and have managed to
raise close to Rs 3.5 lakh for them through the in-house voluntary
contribution.” Prashant Ugemuge, Presedent, VCMDWA said, “The aim
of organizing this event was not just to raise funds for MSS, but
also to spread awareness and inspire other handicaps in our city.”

VCMDWA in the past has
taken part in many important social events like Nagpur Marathon, 'The
Nation before Celebration', 'Blood Donation Camps', 'Stem Cell Donor
Registry' drive and many more activities for the interest of society.
