Close on the heels of associating itself with the All UP Computer Dealers Association, the Varanasi Computer Dealers Association has unanimously elected its new executive committee. Alok Raghuvanshi, MD of Raghuvanshi Computers, has been elected as the President. Overall, eight members have been inducted in the executive body including Anil Jaiswal as Secretary and Anand Vardhan Singh as Treasurer.
Being the home ground to institutions such as Banaras Hindu University and organizations like DLW and BHEL, Varanasi is having a big market when it comes to supplying IT systems and solutions to these entities. "This is a big market for us but we have a lot of issues to address now. For example, whenever we have a shortage of any peripheral or system, there is a price war which breaks out. We also have problems associated with under-cutting of prices. We want to stop all this and align
urselves with the industry," informed Raghuvanshi.
The association has already engaged itself in devising different strategies to tackle different problems associated with the trade. "Firstly we want to strengthen the inter-dealer chain within the Varanasi region, which will help us discuss small and big issues with each other. We also want to work closely with bigger associations like our statewide dealers association. This will help us stand on a bigger platform and highlight bigger issues effectively and promptly," he added.
The association also wants to work closely with the government in the upliftment of the society. " Last year we did a 15 day workshop where we provided computer education to the inmates of the Varanasi district jail. We want to intensify this kind of work in the near future," informed
Raghuvanshi.
The association has also taken up a issue regarding the service policies of various vendors. "Services are going to be very important in the coming days and in fact today also it is a big revenue generator. We are going to propose to vendors to award us the AMCs where we have installed big orders. This will help us maintain good contacts with our clients as well as reduce burden on a vendor's service center. We are likely to take this matter very soon with different vendors like HP, who has a service center in Varanasi," he revealed.
