To select committee next week

Valsad Association of Infotech Companies (VAITCOM) had its fifth
annual general meeting for the year 2003-2004 and will choose its new committee
next week. Pradip Chinnakonda and Siddharth Shah would con-tinue as Presi-dent
and Vice President for VAITCOM. "The main agenda of the meeting has been,
taking st-ock of accounts, identifying the areas of impro-vement for the
association and also to increase profitability of partners. To inc-rease
profitabi-lity for VAITCOM members, we plan to follow Mission Pros-perITy and
also conduct semi-nars for memb-ers. Workshops conducted will include
parti-cipation of other associations and also showcase success stories of
channel partners in Valsad and other cities," said Chinnakonda.

"Printer vendors don’t have their service center at
Valsad, therefore, it’s important that our partners train themselves and are
capable of answering complaints. Many of the part-ners lack technical know-how,
which is a major drawback. Once we include Vapi in our activities, vendors could
set up a service center later, as it would also satisfy their volu-mes. However
this would take time. Vendors like Lexmark have door-to-door replace-ments
therefore, the problem is with vendors like Epson and HP," added
Chinnakonda.

VAITCOM has planned to conduct its expo early this year in
December and also a mid-term exhibition for soft-ware and service companies. The
plans of vendors conducting its exhibition in or around Valsad are still on, but
nothing has been fixed.

The associa-tion has made a profit of Rs 1.25 lakh from
2003-2004, which has doubled since last year. VAIT-COM has de-cided to spend
these earnings wi-sely on its new office and also in creating an infor-mation
kiosk with the help of the local autho-rities. "All kinds of information
would be avail-able at this kiosk, which would be useful for the Val-sad
population," confidently added Chinnakonda.
