VAIT to organize IT expo in July, 2011

Association
for Information Technology (VAIT) is organizing an IT
expo from July 22-25 in
association with Dinamalar, a Tamil daily, to maximize the trade. The
venue for the expo is Fort Ground,
Vellore. The association has also communicated the same to the
vendors and some of them
including HP, Acer, Samsung, Epson, TVS and Numeric have confirmed
their participation. The vendors are participating through their
channel partners.

Suresh
Babu, president, VAIT is the chairman of the IT expo committee. The
committee will co-ordinate with Dinamalar which is the sponsor and
planner of the entire event. The association has paid Rs 5 lakh for
50 stalls to the sponsor. “A representative from each vendor will
hold technical seminars and address customers about their respective
products and inform them about current trends in the IT market. These
guys will help to increase our business,” said Babu. While talking
about the importance of the expo, Babu said, “Around 30 dealers
have confirmed the irparticipation to increase the market penetration
and we have booked 50 stalls to display products. IT expos give us
the platform to demonstrate our products and provide technical
knowledge to general public.”

“The
IT expo would attract a lot of customers as the event organizer is
the leading Tamil local newspaper, which will create awareness by
carrying the news of the expo,” said, Baskaran K, secretary,
VAIT. Talking about the business, Ugrasimhan S, treasurer, VAIT said,
“This expo will make customers aware of the kind of products we
deal with and this would definitely increase our sales. The
association has set a target of Rs 20-25 lakh as revenue generation
from the trade fair.”

Apart
from the expo, VAIT is planning to conduct training programs to
impart managerial skills to its members. “We are planning to give
HR training to our dealers, which will be done by professionals from
the market,” added Suresh. The association also plans to add more
members and
therefore they have invited 20-25 dealers for membership.
