PTC, the product development company, has announced the winners of their tenth annual PTC awards competition awarded at the 2002 PTC/User International Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. V&V Design, incorporated in Mumbai in 1993 won the award in the Electronics category from amongst hundreds of entries all over the world.

V&V Design is engaged in turning bleeding-edge technologies into consumer electronics and communication products. For the competition, V&V designed a desktop videophone, that features a built-in high-resolution video screen, video camera, touch-tone phone system, and privacy mode that allows users to disable outgoing video. Options include caller ID, and Picture in Picture to enable adjustment of picture quality, size and frame rate.

Manoj Karam, General Manager, V&V Design says this plug-and-play system delivers "convenient, cost-effective, high-quality audio and video face-to-face communication." Pro/ENGINEER's advanced features facilitated creation of a 3D rendered image for the customer, and enabled quick modification, as needed, to the 3D model. Design goals included: creating a design that would be easy to manufacture; reducing design time and cost; and expediting product-development. Karam says Pro/ENGINEER allowed this design team to achieve those goals.
