Resellers across Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Bareilly and Gorakhpur
have come together in a state-level association. Aligarh and Agra are likely to
join soon

The reseller community of Uttar Pradesh has formed a statewide asso-ciation-UPCDA
(Uttar Prad-esh Computer Dealer Associa-tion). Resellers across six cities
including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Bareilly and Gorakhpur joined
hands to form UPCDA about 15 days ago. The new association is directed at
providing them with a bigger platform to address issues related to the IT trade
in this region.

Rohit Kohli of Kanpur-based Comexcell Technologies has been unanimously
elected as the President of UPCDA while Manish Mehrotra of Allahabad-based
Tritech Enterprises has been elected as the Secretary.

"This association has just been formed and we have taken all the present
presidents of various associations from cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi,
Gorakhpur, Bareilly and Allahabad into the exe-cutive body of UPCDA. The
pri-mary objective of this associa-tion is to create a business-friendly
environment for the channel community in this region and we are fully confid-ent
of achieving this with the help of this statewide plat-form," said Mehrotra.

It may be recalled that gene-sis of the idea to have a state-wide association
lies way back in June 2003, when some of the prominent resellers of the region
proposed that a state level association be formed. However, the idea could not
take shape due to lack of coordination among the channel community.

"It is indeed a very difficult task to have a common assoc-iation and
still have ease of co-ordination with all the reg-ions. Despite these
difficulties we have been able to formul-ate this association. Moving forward,
we will be channeli-zing our energies to deal with issues related to billing,
back-payment related issues and creating an overall healthy business environment
for the channel community in the state," said Mehrotra.

"We want to take this association further and give it a national flavor.
We have spoken to national associa-tions like MAIT and in a couple of months, we
would be having support from cities like Agra and Aligarh as well," he
added.
