Tyco enters distribution tie up with Compuage

Tyco Electronics Corporation has entered a distribution tie up with Compuage Infocom, distributor of global IT brands, to distribute Tyco's electronics Switches and Media Converters. 

With this tie up Tyco Electronics is aiming to expand its reach across the country as far as the distribution of its switches and media converters is concerned. Tyco has also announced the manufacturing of Ethernet LAN products in India at its manufacturing facility in

Bangalore. 

Tyco also has plans to assemble, test and market eight product lines from this facility. Tyco hopes to leverage on the vast distribution and marketing network of Compuage, which has more than 40 regional distributors and has a reseller base of around 2,000.

Compuage distributes IT product lines for companies, which include AMP, ACER, Canon, Seagate, Samtel, Panasonic, etc. The company has also planned training sessions for the channel partners along with Compuage as part of their new channel strategy. 

Tyco has also planned many road shows at various A,B and C class cities to popularize their products across the country.


Speaking on the occasion KK Shetty, Country Manager, AMP Connect, a division of Tyco Electronics, informed that the total market size for active products in India is nearly Rs 750 crore out of which Tyco would initially be focusing on only Rs 250 crore market. During the first year the company is aiming at a five- percent market share in India and is aiming for a 100 percent share second year onwards. 

Shetty informed that the company would mainly be focusing on the call center market, software segment, banking and finance, SOHO market, government and the defense manufacturing segments by through its active products in India.

Informing about Tyco's manufacturing plant activities at Bangalore, Setty said that Tyco would start manufacturing eight Port, 16 Port and 24 Port switches and media converters at the plant. 

He added that the plant has the full technical support from Tyco Electronics, UK and has all the necessary quality controls to meet the requirements. Commenting on the distribution tie up with Tyco Electronics, Atul Mehta, Chairman and MD, Compuage, said that through the tie up with their company Tyco would be able to leverage on its vast distribution network and Compuage would be able to offer a wide range of product lines for its channel partners.
