TVSICS set to double its channel presence, ventures into telecom antennas

TVS Interconnect Systems Ltd (TVSICS), a TVS Group company that deals with
telecom and networking services, is growing at a blitzkrieg pace. Last year, the
company grew nearly by 200 percent to register a turnover of Rs 120 crore, from
Rs 46 crore in the previous year.

“We will keep this momen-tum up and going. We are confident of reaching the
threshold mark of Rs 500 crore by 2008 and channels will play a key role in it.
TVSICS is expanding its interests into manufacturing of products, providing
solutions and services, which will augur for the growth,” said S Ashok, GM
(Networking), TVSICS.

Started in 1999, TVSICS ventured into business with telecom and networking
solu-tion. “Soon, we moved into the next level taking up solutions approach in
business. We got into areas such as wireless solutions, carrier solutions,
networking solutions and project management services, which brought the
necessary thrust into business. Now, TVSICS is providing end-to-end solution
with interests in manufacturing (promoting our own brand called TVSnet);
designing, developing, deploy-ing and maintaining solutions, besides focusing on
services,” elaborated Biswajit Patnaik, GM (Sales and Marketing — Telecom),
TVSICS.

TVSICS is getting into manufacturing of telecom antennas and has made an
initial investment of Rs 50 crore in the project. “We have a technical tie-up
with Aus-tralia-based Argus, which is one of the world's largest manfacturer
of telecom antennas. We will manufacture both single-band and multi-band
antennas for GSM, CDMA and UMTS services. We have already bagged an order from
Reliance to supply 2207 antennas and the project is worth nearly Rs 5 crore,”
he said. TVSICS has proposed to manufacture 10,000 antennas in the first year of
operations.

On the channel front, it is increasing its channel base across the
distribution structure-from regional distributors to sub-distributors,
stockists to resellers and system integrators also. “We are doubling up our
channel presence to have 16 regional distributors, 24 sub-distributors, 225
resellers and 35 system integrators by end of this year. The company is
investing significantly on promotional activities, road-shows and training and
certification programs for the channels. We want to increase the channel
contribution in networking business from 25 percent to 35 percent in the current
year,” detailed Ashok.

The company offers prod-ucts for every segment from SOHO to SMB and
enterprise. Soon, it is getting into operation and maintenance (O&M) in a
big way. It is also eyeing the overseas markets by setting up offices in
Bangla-desh and Sri Lanka, with Dubai project in the pipeline.
