TVS-E launches bilingual keyboard for the home segment

TVS Electronics Ltd (TVS-E) has launched TVS Cha-mp–bilingual membrane
keyboard under its brand ‘TVS Champ’. With this launch, TVSE plans to
increase its share in membrane keyboards category.

The newly launched bili-ngual keyboard is targeted at the home segment and is
available in eight different languages along with English. The languages include
Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Punjabi, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. Custom
made layouts would be available for all the eight languages.

According to S Narendran, GM (Marketing), TVS-E, "With the increase in
IT penetration in B and C class cities, langu-age applications will become the
order of the day. Our mechanical keyboard, TVS Gold, already offers bilingual
solutions to DTP and govern-ment segments. With increase in demand of language
appli-cations in homes and the smaller cities, membrane key-boards were the next
logical step. It is a strategic move to ensure that we leverage the language
opportunity grow-ing in the country with our basket of language solutions."

The keyboard market in India is close to 36,00,000 un-its as per IDC 2004
estimates out of which, membrane key-boards has a share of appro-ximately 90
percent. TVS-E enjoys the market leadership in the mechanical segment with over
50 percent market share.

With the TVS Champ bili-ngual membrane keyboard, TVS-E expects to strengthen
its market share in the membrane segment as well. The keyboard will be available
at over 1,500 dealers across 300 towns.
