Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) has announced its alliance with the Assam Small
Industries Development Corp (ASIDC), a Government of Assam undertaking, to offer
exclusive knowledge and support to each other, their constituents and partners.
The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence
of Tarun Kumar Gogoi, CM, Assam.
As per a company statement, the partnership titled JAAL (the Net) has been
forged with a view to establish a leadership position for the industrial economy
of Assam. JAAL seeks to act as a developmental tool in the state so as to
develop world-class services and infrastructure through both public and private
participation, with an objective to generate wealth and large-scale employment
opportunities in Assam and the entire Northeastern region.
Tata Teleservices will invest Rs 500 crore over a period of three years to
create a robust telecom infrastructure across Northeast and Assam.
As per the MoU, Tata Teleservices will promote and invest in the development
of telecommunications in all industrial estates/units, subsidiary companies,
corporations, commercial businesses owned, partnered and licensed by the
Department of Industry and Commerce, industrial exports and trade for the growth
of Assam.
TTSL will also promote local entrepreneurs to set-up and manage the sale of
telecommunication-related services. The company will highlight the industrial
potential of the state while participating in national/international expos,
roadshows, conferences and workshops through developing innovative collaterals
from time to time, as per its commercial objectives.
Speaking on the occasion, Debasish Sur, President-Enterprise Business Unit,
TTSL said, “Tata Teleservices will bring forth various telecom products,
services and offerings to enhance the pace of progress in these states.”
By providing modern communication access to the regional rural banks, grameen
and co-operative banks and enabling them to transition to core banking, TTSL
will help the state and its population make better use of banks. TTSL will also
offer and assist ASIDC in the development of health services across all state
hospitals and PHCs by providing best-in-communication linkages and integrated
telecom solutions.
