REGiNET, the first of its kind in India, is a dedicated network connecting all the 20 registration offices in Chennai city. To begin with, REGiNET enables access to information and issue of Encumbrance Certificates for any property located in Chennai city from any of the Sub-Registrar offices in the city and the departmental service center (at DIG Registration Office,
Chennai).
The project involves computerization of 225 offices - a major step towards transparency in administration and faster delivery of services.
Over 350 sub-registrar offices have been computerized, 325 of them being done in 2002 alone.
With this, a host of services are offered at these offices. These are:
* Faster registration of documents
* Issue of Encumbrance Certificates, Marriage Certificate, Certified copies of documents in minutes.
* Model Draft deeds available in the web site to enable the registrants to prepare their own deeds
* Deeds can be written on plain paper and stamp duty & registration fee can be paid through
DD/Challan/Cash.
* Sample forms relating to registration of documents, societies, firms and chits are available in the website.
* On-line preparation of Property Valuation Statement and adjudication of stamp duty in
Chennai.
* State-wide information of Guideline Values available in the departmental web sites
