Vandhaarai vaazha vaikum tamizhagam (A state that provides livelihood for everyone) is an age-old Tamil proverb that suits well only for one city in the state-Tirupur. The town is known for the active business and the export done across the country. The IT association of the region also is known as one of the most active associations.
The DQ Week Tech Caravan, conducted along with the partnership of Tirupur Information Technology Association (TITA), provided a platform for the local partners to come up with their problems at the regional level. Speaking on the occasion, P Shanmugam, president, TITA said, "One of the biggest issues in our region is the non-availability of a service center. Almost all the vendors are neglecting our region." Shanmugam also added that taking the materials to service center in Coimbatore has become tedious and the customers and our reputation is lost in the ball game. P Murthy, CEO, Tech Media, insisted, "There is a huge potential in this region and the vendors should consider the issues of the channel partners and set up a service center in the region."
A lot of complaints, suggestions and feedbacks were raised by the members during the discussion. "The vendors are having a toll-free number. However, the executives who handle the calls do not listen to us properly, and sometimes it takes some five to six blocks to lock a complaint. This should be rectified," said a participant, adding that Tamil should be added as a language in the complaint registering process.
Another channel partner raised concern about the knowledge of the executives from the vendor companies. "Most of the people representing even some of the well-established brands are not
having sound knowledge about the subject or the brand they deal with," shared a participant, adding that in some cases executives do not even understand the issues of the partner and the customers.
Norton, Uniline, and Western Digital were the other partners for the event.
