It appears that Xiaomi is working on a new smartphone, likely to be called Redmi Pro 2. The information comes courtesy of some images, posted by a tipster on Chinese social networking platform Weibo. They also give some indication about the handset’s specifications and price.
The image shows the alleged Redmi Pro 2’s two variants. While one of them is expected to come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the lower-end variant will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The handset will likely come with a 5.5-inch HD display of 720×1280 pixel resolution.
Xiaomi is expected to go with a MediaTek chipset for the Redmi Pro 2. It may come with a large 4,050mAh battery.
So how much is the Redmi Pro 2 likely to cost? Based on the leaked images, the unannounced smartphone will be priced at 1,599 Yuan and 1,799 Yuan for 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants respectively. However, all of this information should be taken with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed yet.
For now, it is anyone’s guess whether the Redmi Pro 2 will launch alongside the flagship Mi 6 smartphone.
Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi Note 4 in India. The company has priced the 2GB RAM version of the smartphone at Rs 9,999, the 3GB RAM model at Rs 10,999, and the 4GB RAM version at Rs 12,999.
