In an interview with Zia Askari of CyberMedia News, Rahul 'The Wall'
Dravid revealed his tryst with IT and how does he see various technologies
evolving around him. He was in Delhi while on a promotional campaign for Hutch.
Excerpts from the interview.

How much weightage does IT hold in your daily life?

IT and its applications have been strongly ingrained in our daily lives. Be
it our LCD televi-sion sets, computer monitors or the Internet related
applica-tions-IT is gaining ground on every front. Personally, I do be-lieve
that IT usage is going to increase as we move forward and more and more
applica-tions will be directed towards the common man.

Being a cricketer, what kind of IT applications do you use?

As I have to follow a tough schedule in terms of daily practicing and
exercise, there is not much time left for any other activities. However, whe-never
I get spare time, I do log onto the Internet to check my mails and chat.

In terms of software applica-tions, our team closely works on this software
to analyze our shortcomings and it helps in bettering our performance. In a
highly competitive world of cricket, IT is helping us a lot in terms of moving
another notch up towards competing with other nations.

What kind of Internet usage do you have and which appli-cations do you
find most attra-ctive on the net?

Nowadays, this wireless phenomenon is catching up quite a bit and we see all
these unwired places at hotels and airports. It is not that big in India but in
other foreign countries it is pretty big.

So whenever I am out on tour-I always make it a point to carry my laptop.
This way I can be in touch with my loved ones easily.
