In last two years, market has seen many
ups and downs. In year 2008, because of recession market was not that
good, but in 2009 it has improved. Research reports of Gartner and
IDC point a significant increase in market over the year 2008. We
think market will go up this year also for monitors and PC segments.
Even the concept of buying bundle PC is changing with the advent of
so many new companies specialized in different segments to make the
whole system more advanced and real time. All In One PC is another
innovation to substitute bundle PC. As far as consumer decisions are
concerned, monitors are on top of the list. Since, monitors being the
more visible one as compared to other parts of bundled PC, customers
want stylish, less space consuming and colour full monitor for their
use. Also there are various functions like watching movies, designing
etc, which defines their choice.
In my opinion there seems to be
inclination towards bigger and slimmer monitors. However, the
purchase trend in bundle PC has shifted from CRT display to LCD and
LED displays. The innovation in electronic devices has always driven
a good market all over the world. Even consumers eagerly wait for
newer and smarter technological advancement in every segment.
Sometimes technology changes are for the betterment of consumers and
environment Thus, there has also been a shift change in from the
desktop CRT to LCD screens and now the innovation is with notebooks
and netbooks. The notebooks are more user-friendly in terms of
portability, power usage and mobility. Now the price of the notebooks
are affordable and within the reach of general people. In terms of new
technologies, India has
always been receptive to it specially, when it is green and lower
TCO. The trend in the market is that the high-end or technology-led
product categories are doing better in the Indian market and that is
the reason we expect better acceptance for the LED product category
in the Indian market. There is a new trend emerging which is carrying
a portable devise, which enables a customer to do all the required
jobs without acquiring any other gadget. However, the growth of B2B
segment and ICT in education, the monitor market is equally buoyant.
There is also another technology that
is moving great in India market, is the 3D technology, which will be
the next big thing in the display technology in the recent days. Next
would be the interactive technology for projectors. This will change
the teaching and learning scenario forever. Virtual reality (VR) is a
term that applies to computer-simulated environments that can
simulate places in the real world, as well as in imaginary worlds.
Most current virtual reality environments are primarily visual
experiences, displayed either on a computer screen or through special
stereoscopic displays, but some simulations include additional
sensory information, such as sound through speakers or headphones. We
believe that this technology can be introduced to LED monitors.
At ViewSonic we believe in expanding
the market by introducing a wider range of products to cater all
segments of the market. We offer a comprehensive product line of LCD
monitor to LED and 3d monitors in the country along with an
exhaustive range of projectors with both DLP and LCD, 3D technology
to suit the needs of home entertainment as well as business
solutions. ViewSonic always brings out innovative and new products to
consumers, so that channel partners have extra edge to sell our
products in this competitive market. We can't combine trends of both
segments, as metros have their own demand and upcountry is having
their own requirements. Metro is always driven by new technologies
and advancement in products but upcountry is setting up their
infrastructure, so basic technology and products are achievement for
them. Now, companies are also focusing on upcountry as metros are
already flooded with options. Companies don't invest much in
upcountry, so ROI is high there.
ViewSonic has recently announced our
pragmatic shift to LED technology. The new range from ViewSonic
display will be LED, and ViewSonic plans to add a good number of LED
displays in the kitty by the end of 2011. For the year 2010-11,
ViewSonic will work on a comprehensive strategy focusing on
consolidation of business across various cities. ViewSonic is also
focusing on the enterprise and education projector market. We would
be regionalizing our distribution and marketing plans to address the
issues and concerns of each zone. Apart from this we are focusing on
expanding the market by introducing exciting product lines and
expanding the channel network by recruiting more partners from the
tier-2 and 3 cities.
