Telangana Govt to kick off ‘Telangana Digithon’ program on Thursday

The Government of Telangana will launch its ambitious 'Telangana Digithon - Digital Literacy Programme' on Thursday, August 27th 2015. The program intends to promote digital literacy among the common people in the State. The government has collaborated with the Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) to execute the program at the ground level.

Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao recently unveiled the logo of 'Telangana Digithon'. The Telangana Digithon logo with the tagline of 'Cultivating Literacy' consists of green leaves which indicate GO GREEN with Digital Literacy.

"TITA has devised a program by name and style of 'TELANGANA DIGITHON', to reach the knowledge of Digital Literacy among people of Telangana, so that they will use the Digital Devices and tools and gain the benefits of the Technology. The aim of TITA is to prepare 10,000 Digital Leaders (Trainers), who in turn will impart Digital Literacy knowledge to 1,00,000 people in the first phase." said TITA president Sundeep Kumar Makthala.

During the Digithon Launch program, the first batch of Digital trainers will be given training in imparting Digital Literacy to the people.  They will be the 'Digithon Certified Trainers' from TITA. Posters designed for the propagation of Digital Literacy and the Digital Leader's Manual will be released.

Makthala said that TITA had prepared a special syllabus for the people, which include basic computing and internet surfing. He said that special emphasis had been given on teaching basics of social media and online transactions. He said that the Digital Trainers would also give training to people on using smart devices. Makthala also said that the aim of the program was to create awareness about the cyber security.

The event will be inaugurated by Telangana State Planning Commission Vice Chairman Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy and Telangana State IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan. Srikanth Badiga, Chairman - SEZ Association of AP & Telangana, Mr A Murali IAS CEO, and the Society for Eradication of Rural Poverty (SERP), JNTUH Rector Dr. T Kishan Reddy and JNTUH SIT Director Dr. Goverdhan will be the Keynote speakers for the event. MR Raja Kishore, Head of CSC Hyderabad will address the gathering.

  • Launch of biometric attendance system in Warangal District.
  • WiFi services at Telangana University, Nizamabad
