Techcom penetrates into West Bengal

has announced their entry to
East India-West Bengal. The company is penetrating with the range
of mobiles from Rs 1,500 to Rs 4,000, with the business focus to
reach mass market with innovative and stylish phones. The launch of
the phones mark yet another business milestone for Techcom as it
brings forth a world-class range of hand-held products within the
reach of consumers. The new mobile devices represent a strategic move
for Techcom towards becoming a leader in the 'mobility market' in
Eastern India, by building upon its core competency of providing
quality products at affordable rates.

Speaking at the event, Sandeep Kumar
Kedia, Director-Mobile Business, Techcom said, “Techcom's new
handsets are in sync with the company's history of innovation and
commitment towards bringing affordable quality products to life. West
Bengal is one of the strongest markets for mobile phones and we have
been receiving positive response from the same. With deeper
penetration of mobile telephony into semi-urban and rural areas, the
market is slated to grow further. We aim to sell about 3.6 lakh units
in the first year in West Bengal and around two million units in
India.”

“We are looking at a strong network
of distributors with an aim of establishing at least one distributor
and one service center at each district. We have a pan-India presence
in terms of our offices and distributors and will be looking at
adding over 40 distributors and almost 1,000 retailers in West Bengal
by 2012,” he added. Techcom is planning to invest about Rs 100
crore for brand building over the next three years nationally, where
West Bengal would be allocated about 10 percent of the budget.
Techcom is also building aggressively on its after-sales network
across India and will ensure adequate number of service centers
across all regions for the convenience of its customers. Primarily,
in mobile handsets, Techcom has already entered the Bihar and UP
markets, and West Bengal becomes the other significant part of
Eastern India.

Sunil Kandoi, Branch Head-Kolkata,
Techcom said, “We aim to acquire 9—10 percent of the West Bengal
market share by 2014. We have an extensive channel network and robust
after-sales service, which is being developed to penetrate deeply
into the regional markets within the state.” The company has a
bouquet of seven entry and mid-level handsets-comprising of feature
rich and competitively priced dual SIM GSM models. The handsets have
been modeled keeping in mind the youth in urban and semi-urban
cities, which are stylish, on the move, confident, vivacious and
above all value for money. The new mobile handsets are dual SIM
(GSM+GSM) handsets with excellent quality and features that make it
stand out in competition to other mobile phones in the similar price
bracket.

Techcom unveiled its seven models
namely T21, T31, T33, T51, T55, T60 and TQ21. The dual sim compatible
T-21, the flagship model, comes with a MP4 / 3GP Video player where a
full three hour length (200 MB) movies can be played at one go. With
an 8GB memory support, the T21 comes at an amazing price of Rs 1,500
only. According to an industry survey, the mobile handset market in
the country stands at 13 million handsets per month and is expected
to rise to 18 million by 2012. With an acquisition of 14 percent
market share of the handsets industry by Indian mobile brands, it has
become a necessity across all strata, and the share is expected to
grow at 5-7 percent every year.

In India, Techcom already enjoys a high
brand recall when it comes to IT peripherals and electronic consumer
goods. Techcom is present in over 30 countries worldwide, broadly
Nepal, Algeria, UAE, Lebanon, Kenya, Nigeria, Middle-East, Uzbekistan
and others. Techcom is also planning to expand its IT and electronics
product portfolio to suit the requirements in all markets with an aim
to expand on its rural reach. On its way ahead for expansion, Techcom
has planned to deepen reach in the Eastern states across all product
categories. By 2012, the company has projected a turnover of Rs 500
crore for the brand.
