a brand of Shree Sagarmatha Distributors has started taking

a multi-pronged approach for positioning its IT products in the

market. The company is taking the retail route and entering

into untapped markets of tier-2 and 3 cities. Speaking to The

DQWeek
, Amit Kumar Kedia, MD,

Shree Sagarmatha Distributors said, “For the past one year we have

changed our distribution structure. Earlier, our products were mainly

available through our super distributors and

resellers. But, now we are open to all type of channel partners for our

range of 200 IT products. The focus of our IT business is to take

our vast range of products to end-customers.

Today, we have products

available with starting range of Rs 20 to Rs 5,000.” The company

has penetrated into 50 new cities. “In some places we are opening

new offices and are tying-up with channel partners. The new approach

has enhanced our reach to end-customers phenomenally. On the channel

front, Tech-Com has more than 1,000 super distributors and 10,000

resellers,” said Kedia. Besides, appointing a new set of channel

partners, Tech-Com is also introducing new products with enhanced

features. It has recently introduced wireless portable speakers, with

built-in battery along with FM, USB and SD features.

When asked how the company

was doing as compared to its competitors, Kedia said, “Our 10 years of

presence in the market

has made our products branded. In the IT business, we are growing at

a CAGR of 30%, and last year we had a turnover of Rs 557 crore. Apart

from that, our international business is much higher as compared to

India. We have our overseas office in Dubai, and from there we are

supplying to

50 other countries including the Middle East, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri

Lanka, Russia, and CIS countries. This is a plus point which

differentiates us from our competitors,” Kedia informed. Moreover, last

year the company entered into the telecom business and launched

handsets. Presently, it has 9 basic models of handsets and in the

next 6 months it will launch 3G and touch screen phones in the market

as well.
