Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global software solutions and consulting services company and Racal Instruments, UK, provider of digital cellular test equipment worldwide, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for establishing a dedicated software development center (SDC) for Racal Instruments. The development center will be based at the TCS offshore development center in New Delhi.
The alliance, which will further strengthen the three-year relationship of the two companies, will fetch TCS revenues of over $15 million over the next three years.
Presently, more than 60 TCS consultants are providing services to Racal Instruments in Burnham (UK), Irvine (USA) and New Delhi (India). The relationship with TCS has enabled Racal Instruments to reduce development and support costs and launch new products faster.
The TCS-Racal Instruments relationship began in July 1998, with TCS being the first India based IT services company to be awarded a project by Racal Instruments. Since then, TCS has provided product development and support services to Racal in the UK, US, China, Germany and India. TCS is providing these solutions for use in Racal Instruments' high-end wireless telecommunication products employing technologies including 3G UMTS, CDMA2000, GPRS and EDGE.
Commenting on the development center for Racal, P Vandrevala, Executive Vice President, TCS said, "We'll be bringing more proven, leading-edge technologies and delivery capabilities to Racal. The dedicated site in Delhi is a major development but it's important to note that we work onsite as well as offshore with the Racal team. TCS is excited at this expansion of our relationship and we'll be focused on delivering on our commitments."
